WHAT A WEEKEND!

During the weekend of July 8 th thru 10th, Breese Council #2869 was on the move!

The weekend began with our traditional Friday night chicken dinner, which, as always, was well attended by community members and well staffed by dedicated Knights. Not to be out done, the faithful bingo and lightening crews once again served a large crowd as well.

The crack of bats kicked off Saturday's events, as our council's two teams competed in the K of C State Softball Tournament in Bartelso. In this double elimination tournament, our younger team was defeated in two games, while our more experienced "older" team won the second of three games. We applaud both teams for their effort! An exceptional Texas Hold `Em Tournament, which saw the addition of black jack, wrapped up Saturday's events. Exceeding all expectations, 73 poker players tried their luck with the cards!

The weekend wound down on Sunday with our 33rd Annual Breese K of C Golf Tournament . Like the other events, the tournament was a success, with 31 teams competing, yet also enjoying fellowship both on the golf course and at the dinner that evening.

I would like to extend a SPECIAL THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered at or participated in any of the events, and thereby contributed to their success. Without the help of so many dedicated Knights, Breese Council #2869 would be unable to donate much needed funds to our local Catholic schools and charities. Thus, please always remember that your willingness to give a bit of your time and effort truly makes a difference! Thank you again for your commitment! God bless!

TEXAS HOLD `EM ANYONE?

donate blood, 97 units were collected, which surpassed our goal!

The next KC Blood Drive

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH

Rich Eilermann

Please congratulate Rich Eilermann, our August Knight of the Month!

In addition to sharing the cooking duties for our monthly meetings, Rich volunteers in the kitchen for nearly all other KC events as well. In July, after a late night of dealing at our Texas Hold `Em Tournament, Rich arrived at the golf course bright and early to work his shift at a betting hole. At any time, Rich willingly shares his time and talents. Please join me in thanking Rich for his service to the Knights of Columbus.

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

Ray and Linda Brosch

Please congratulate Ray and Linda Brosch, our August Family of the Month! During the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year, Ray is continuing to serve our council as the Warden. On a regular basis, Ray also devotes his Friday nights to working at our bingo. More importantly, Ray represents our council at every rosary for our departed Brother Knights. In addition to graciously sacrificing time away from Ray, Linda serves the students of Mater Dei in the Guidance Office. Please join me in thanking Ray and Linda for their service to the Knights of Columbus.

MARK YOUR AUGUST CALENDAR!

Please keep in your prayers the families of our Brother Knights

Edward Gramann, Orville Litteken, and Leonard Schrage,

who were recently called home to glory.

Fraternally yours,

Curt Zurliene, Grand Knight
